Our Mission
Our Mission is to unite and empower maternity care consumers in Alabama to advocate for an informed choice among high quality, integrated, evidence-based services in homes, birth centers, and hospitals.
Creating change is possible. We’ve done it before.
Reduce infant and maternal mortality
Improve access to culturally competent, affordable, and respectful care for rural and disadvantaged urban populations.
Expand access to out-of-hospital maternity care through state-regulated Certified Professional Midwives
License and regulate birth centers.
Ensure Certified Nurse Midwives are covered by all insurance policies and can deliver in hospitals and birth centers.
Support normal, physiologic birth across all settings and increase access to VBAC options.
Promote the Midwives Model of Care to improve birth outcomes, reduce disparities, save costs, minimize unnecessary interventions, and better allocate physician resources.
